The Federal Minister for Broadband, Communication and the Digital Economy says Kevin Rudd’s roll out of the National Broadband Network will become a vital piece of the healthcare solution. Studies show remote patient monitoring will reduce hospital emergency visits by 40% and lengths of hospital stays by 60%. These savings alone will pay for the NVN. Most villages will have to be rewired to deliver this level of broadband coverage, and it will mean residents will stay in villages longer.
