The new retirement village charging up to $4.15M for a unit

The sizes of the residences at Northbrook Wānaka, the resort town in New Zealand’s South Island, vary from 244msq and up to 607msqm, with prices starting at NZ$1.25 million and the larger three-bedroom homes going up to NZ$4.5 million.

NZSX-listed Winton is the main developer, and a spokeswoman said stage one of 32 homes was a NZ$60 million venture where “almost” half the properties had been sold with buyers from New Zealand and Australia.

There will be 131 residences with shared residents' spaces and wellness facilities.

"After years of planning and designing to get the Northbrook offering just right, I am beyond thrilled with the result and to welcome our first residents to Northbrook Wānaka," Chief executive Chris Meehan said.

The village will also soon include 35 suites for high-end care, which are due to be completed by the end of the year along with more homes and the wellness centre.
