Vale Stephen Kenney, WA retirement village sector leader

1 min read

Very sad to hear of Stephen’s passing in Perth after a very short illness. He was aged in his late 50s.

Stephen was my ‘go to’ advisor on what is happening in WA – knowledge he always shared generously. I filmed a short video with him in 2014. You can watch it here.

Stephen played a significant leadership role in the shaping of the St Ives group of villages, which still rank amongst the best conceived across the country, followed by a similar role at Peet. For the last eight years, he has been the ‘go to’ advisor for seniors developments, with his consultancy OzSeniors.

He was at the forefront of the village movement for 17 years, including President of the WA Chapter of the Retirement Village Association and then Chair of the WA Chapter of the Retirement Living Council.

The WA Resident Association Presidents over the years held him in the highest regard.

Stephen was Executive Director of Care UK for 12 years before immigrating to Australia.

A gentleman.
