Victoria and NT impose mandatory vaccinations on home care workers

1 min read

The NT Government has joined with its counterparts in Victoria in making COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for home care workers.

NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner (pictured) said all frontline workers have until 13 November to get vaccinated, or they will not be able to continue working. They will also risk a fine.

“You must receive the vaccine if in the course of your work you come into contact with vulnerable people, your workplace has a high risk of infection, or you perform maintenance of essential infrastructure or logistics in the territory,” Mr Gunner said.

In Victoria, public health orders have also mandated COVID-19 vaccinations for all workers who perform outside essential work outside the home – including home care workers.

For most workplaces, workers must receive a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by 22 October and the second dose by 26 November.

Will we now see the other States and Territories put their skates on to mandate vaccinations for home care workers?
