In a blow to village and land lease operators, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has advised private inspections will not be allowed until the third step of the state’s five-step roadmap out of lockdown.
Private inspections are not due to go ahead until 26 October or until cases are lower than five over a long-term average, or lower than five with an unknown source, while open homes will not be permitted until the fourth step on 23 November – almost three months’ away.
The Government has confirmed only services related to property settlement and the commencement of or ending of a lease, including removalists, can happen from now until the 26 October date.
A number of Victorian-based village operators have already reported lower settlements on the back of COVID – the extension of restrictions is likely to sharpen the pain.
