Village alarm systems inoperable with NBN

1 min read

Long talked about but now happening, village alarm systems that are not NBN-compatible are ceasing to work. An example is a Wangaratta village where last week the alarm providers were advising residents they can only switch the alarm service to mobile phones.

Issues include the NBN not being able to connect villages because the length of copper line to the NBN fibre node is too long and will not allow the minimum line speeds, plus service dropouts and other reliability issues.

For information and advice on NBN and alarms talk to Claude Rafin at INS – he represented the village sector on the NBN advisory committees. (INS is an advertiser with The Weekly SOURCE).
