VMCH locks down Melbourne aged care home after visiting health professional tests positive for COVID-19

1 min read

VMCH St Bernadette’s Aged Care Residence in Sunshine North, 12km from the Melbourne CBD, is in full lockdown after a visiting health professional was diagnosed with COVID-19.

VMCH says they are now following the Government-recommended procedures to contain the spread, including the precautionary lockdown with residents and staff who were in close contact in isolation for 14 days, where they will undergo testing and be closely monitored.

“VMCH has had many precautionary measures in place including mandatory face masks and temperature testing,” a statement from VMCH said.  “All of which were well-established prior to the visit from the external health professional.”

With many of the Victorian aged outbreaks being traced back to aged care staff, the case indicates that anyone who visits – even GPs – is a risk.
