Around 50 residents have moved from the Not For Profit’s William Moore Court facility into the 144-bed Dovetree aged care home at its Sinnamon Village in Sinnamon Park, 14km southwest of the Brisbane CBD.
Dovetree follows Wesley Mission’s dedication to the internationally recognised Eden Alternative philosophy of care.
CEO Geoff Batkin says the philosophy is about combating feelings of loneliness, helplessness and boredom, and creating an interactive environment where residents and staffs can feel involved and empowered for a more meaningful quality of life.
“Things like a hot breakfast on offer every day. The option to have a beer or wine with meals. Special event celebrations. Plenty of room for family gatherings. Technology to keep them connected. A lively aviary full of birds,” he said.
