Where’s God’s waiting room? On the NSW Central Coast

1 min read

Following our story here about RetireAustralia selling out its latest Central Coast villages, we were interested to find out that the region now has the highest percentage of people aged over 80 in Australia.

The Daily Tele is reporting that the area also has the highest number of centenarians in NSW with 64 residents.

In total, 19,396 people or 5.9% of the population were aged 80 or over in last year’s Census.

This compares to QLD’s Sunshine Coast with 5.2%, Sydney’s Northern Beaches with 4.9% and the Gold Coast with 4%.

No wonder these areas are also our village and aged care ‘hotspots’.
