1,000 bed shortfall: Anglicare taps into local demand with $100M co-located village and aged care for southwest Sydney

Backing onto the Bankstown Golf Club, the retirement village and aged care facility in Milperra, 24km west of the CBD, will include 103 aged care beds and 127 retirement living units to be built in three stages.

According to the Department of Health, there is a shortfall of more than 1,000 beds in the Canterbury-Bankstown area and only four retirement villages within 10km of the Milperra site.

Anglicare is Sydney’s largest village operator with 22 retirement villages, most of which are co-located with aged care and offer home care services.

CEO Grant Millard says all of the Not For Profit’s major village developments planned for the next five to 10 years include aged care services.

“We believe that it is important to provide care and support services that meet the needs of residents, whatever they may be,” he said.
