ACT: historic homestead designated for aged care taken off the market

1 min read

The new wave of Consumer Advocacy: Just a month ago, the plan to turn the site of the Gold Creek Homestead at Gungahlin, 16km from the Canberra CBD, into a 160-bed aged care facility and 30 supportive housing beds was given the tick of approval by the National Trust as long as the homestead was retained.

Now the Suburban Land Agency has removed it from sale to “provide more time to work towards a better balance of social and financial benefits for the ACT community”.

Are they concerned about further community backlash over the plan?
