Kay Shaylor, a 62-year-old aged care nurse from Umina Beach, had dedicated her life to helping others, but it didn't stop a pair of lowlifes stealing from her as she lay trapped in wreckage after a horrific accident at North Gosford on the NSW Central Coast.

Ms Shaylor had been driving to work at the Chamberlain Gardens nursing home at Wyoming on September 3 when she collided head-on with another car. She later died in hospital.

It's alleged Jason Richard Allan Hall, 42, and Silvia Maria Schreuder, 44, took her handbag from the crash scene during the emergency response, and used Ms Shaylor's credit cards and cash to make a number of purchases after her death.

Brisbane Water LAC Commander Daniel Sullivan, who described the nurse as a "much loved member of our community", said: "Should these circumstances be proven, it would be one of the lowest acts I've ever seen."

A 20-year-old woman has also been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and driving while suspended over the crash.

Bianca Harrington, an L-plate driver, was refused bail after allegedly admitting to police that she had smoked "five bongs" before driving.
