Benhome to become part of Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution (RFBI)

1 min read

The Maitland Benevolent Society (MBS) has announced the sale of Benhome residential and home care services to the not-for-profit provider RFBI.

MBS Chairman Bob Geoghegan said Benhome had been actively seeking a suitable purchaser for several months to extend its service offering in the Maitland area (two hours north of Sydney).

It is understood they also required financial support. Seven other NFP providers were also considered during the process.

RFBI has been operating in the Hunter and Maitland area for over 43 years and already runs four other residential care villages, three retirement villages and home care services across the region.

Mr Geoghegan said the acquisition enabled the 152-year-old Benhome to benefit from RFBI’s extensive existing network and that working with a large organisation such as RFBI would ensure Benhome’s future sustainability.

Existing residents and home care clients will not be adversely affected by the sale.
