50 new homes for over-55s in WA’s Shire of Capel
Bethanie breaks ground on new social housing expansion
- Construction: 50 new social and affordable homes added to existing community
- Government backed: Project funded by Housing Australia Future Fund support
- Integrated living: Development beside aged care and existing community housing
- Growth mode: Bethanie continues expanding its WA housing footprint
A traditional smoking ceremony has marked the start of construction on 50 new social and affordable homes within an operator’s established community.
Not For Profit Bethanie said the social and affordable housing development will sit alongside 104 existing community housing homes and the 120-bed Bethanie Dalyellup residential aged care facility on the site.
“None of this is possible without the partnership of the Australian and Western Australian Governments through the Housing Australia Future Fund, which combines grants and loans to make projects like this viable,” Bethanie posted on LinkedIn.
“That investment is not abstract, and next year we will be welcoming new residents who will have a front door to close, a community to belong to, and the security of knowing they are home.”
In January, the West Australian Government’s Department of Communities also announced Bethanie as the preferred proponent to develop and operate a new three-storey 90-dwelling community housing development in Mount Lawley, an inner northern suburb of Perth.
Bethanie Housing Limited is a registered community housing provider managing over 500 community housing properties for Western Australians in the Perth and the state’s South-West.
