Ministerial Release, August 19, 2008.

The Federal Government this week called for tenders to develop new workforce training to assist Indigenous people working in aged and community care in the Northern Territory. “The project is focused on the training needs of community care workers looking after remote, rural and urban people in the Northern Territory with the objective to improve home and community care for frail and older indigenous Australians,” said Minister for Ageing Justine Elliot. The Federal Government will provide funds of up to $1 million for the project to support and assist in job opportunities for Indigenous people in the health and aged sector. Applications are invited from qualified training organisations to provide the community care training across the Northern Territory from October 30, 2008 to June 30, 2010.
