Hard to imagine: 32 Oakden staff now under investigation

The SA State Govt-managed Oakden Mental Health aged care facility just gets worse. 32 staff have now been referred to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPR), up from the 21 we reported on here in May.

The number of staff referred to police has also risen from eight to nine, while 15 staff are also on paid leave, pending investigation, according to a progress report from SA Health released to The Advertiser.

The resulting reviews will keep aged care in the news through to Christmas. SA Govt is currently reviewing its aged care facilities and mental health facilities, while a national review is due to report to Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt at the end of this month.
