The law firm’s partner Anita Courtney tells us they have received three ‘files’ relating to home care providers being challenged by clients coordinating services directly with suppliers and seeking reimbursement under their packages, “e.g. from new online ‘Uber style’ platforms”.
“Without proper processes in place, approved providers may find themselves ‘on the hook’ for the (lack of) quality care and services provided circumstances where the approved provider has been to appropriately get a prospectus supplier skills and qualifications”.
Failure to supervise may be a breach of the approved providers’ obligations under the Aged Care Act.
