House of Representatives launches Inquiry into aged care staffing ratio disclosure bill

1 min read

The Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport is now looking into the bill put forward by SA Independent MP Rebekha Sharkie which proposes quarterly reporting of the ratio of aged care residents to staff by providers including the break-down of staff by category and level, for example, Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, Personal Care Attendant, Allied Health Staff and Other Staff.

“In addition, the Bill proposes to require that any change to the staffing ratio which is greater than 10 percent (and occurs between quarterly reports) to be notified (within 28 days of a change) for the purpose of being made public,” the press release says.

A proposal that now looks more likely given the current political climate.
