The Centre Alliance MP has followed through on her pledge to voters to introduce the bill to the Lower House, calling for facilities to be required to report quarterly on the number of registered nurses, enrolled nurses and personal care workers that they employ.
Ms Sharkie says that the Aged Care Amendment (Staffing Ratio Disclosure) Bill 2018 will provide greater transparency for families moving loved ones into aged care so they can make more informed choices about the facilities they consider.
“They (families) have a right to know what they are signing up for,” she said.
