Lendlease lodges DA for Gold Creek Homestead aged care home

1 min read

Lendlease is moving forward with its plans for an 118-bed aged care home as part of its development at the ACT’s historic Gold Creek Homestead.

The three-storey facility – for which contracts were signed with the ACT Government last year – will include respite and dementia care beds, and stand alongside 45 independent retirement villas.

According to Nathan Cockerill, Managing Director of Lendlease Retirement Living, the original Homestead as well as the Slab Hut and Stone Kitchen will be restored and repurposed as part of the development, though part of the homestead building will be demolished.

“We want to create an intergenerational site at Gold Creek Homestead that is sustainable, inclusive and builds on our existing connection with the local community.

“Our intention is also to retain, restore and activate elements of the original Gold Creek Homestead and ensure the design of the precinct respects its rich heritage,” he told the Canberra Times.

Construction will begin this year if approved, for completion in 2024.
