The ASX-listed health insurance giant has completed its second acquisition after moving into the sector last year following its purchase of HealthStrong for a reported $70 million, Australia’s largest provider of allied health services to residents in aged care facilities and at home.
Based in Adelaide, HSS was founded in 1989 and pioneered the use of “Hospital Avoidance” programs in South Australia.
In its FY18 investor presentation, Medibank says that the acquisition is in line with its strategy to provide customers with choice over how and where healthcare is delivered.
Considering HealthStrong operates in WA, NSW, QLD, VIC and TAS, they are now closing in on that goal.
