Respect expands into South Australia

  • First SA home: Respect enters South Australia for the first time
  • Community provider: Jallarah Homes has served Meningie since 1981
  • Future growth: Plans to expand the home from 30 to 45 beds
  • National footprint: Respect's network grows to 41 aged care homes

Respect has expanded into South Australia for the first time, adding another regional aged care home to its growing national network.

From 30 June, Jallarah Homes in Meningie will join the Not For Profit provider, increasing Respect’s portfolio to 41 aged care homes across Australia.

Located around 150km south-east of Adelaide, Jallarah Homes is an independent Not For Profit organisation owned by the Meningie community. The move secures the future of the 30-bed service and paves the way for a planned expansion to 45 beds.

Respect CEO and Managing Director Jason Binder said the organisation was proud to continue Jallarah’s legacy.

“Jallarah Homes has been providing care to the Meningie community since 1981,” Jason said.

“It was founded on the belief that older people should be able to age with dignity, surrounded by the people and places they know and love – a purpose that closely aligns with our own at Respect.”

Jason said the partnership demonstrated that smaller regional services could remain sustainable when supported by the right operating model.

"While Jallarah is a relatively small 30-bed home, with plans to expand to 45 beds, it demonstrates that high-quality aged care can remain sustainable in rural communities when it is well run and supported,” he said.

The transaction was approved unanimously by Jallarah members on Tuesday night (9 June) following a structured Expression of Interest process.

The acquisition cements Respect’s position as one of Australia’s largest regional and rural aged care providers.

The organisation now employs around 5,500 staff, operates 41 aged care homes, manages more than 900 retirement living units and supports more than 1,500 home care clients across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and South Australia.
