‘New’ interim code of practice for WA retirement villages amid ongoing reforms – but only for six months

1 min read

The Interim Code of Practice for Retirement Villages (No. 2) 2020 commenced on 1 October 2020, and is due to apply for six months until the end of 31 March 2020.

While there is little substantive change contained in the code, it’s interesting to note that it comes as part of the ongoing legislative process undertaken by the State Government.

As we covered here in June, the WA Government had entered its final phase of consultation on proposed changes to retirement village laws in the state.

A final consultation paper is now due to be released in 2021, but this will not be released until a decision is made about which reforms should be fast-tracked.
