New technology from IRT digitises end-of-life planning

1 min read

The Illawarra Retirement Trust (IRT) has announced the successful development and trial of ExSitu – a digital end-of-life planning tool that aims to help family and friends make better decisions for a loved one in their final years.

The online, interactive tool (pictured) is designed to empower older Australians to create advance care directives and other protective end-of-life documentation that reflect their personal voice and values.

ExSitu was developed by two IRT employees (April Creed and Rebecca Glover) who participated in the organisation’s 2017 ten-week Innovation Challenge. The platform was built and tested with the support of both IRT’s Innovation team and the University of Wollongong’s iAccelerate Start Program.

It is now being trialled by IRT's homecare and residential care divisions – and is soon to be trialled with RMB Lawyers.
