NSW: Warrigal home care client diagnosed with coronavirus – staff calling clients prior to visits for welfare check

1 min read

The client – who lives in the Shoalhaven – has been checked at hospital and is now recovering at home under the supervision of their GP and the district’s public health unit.

CEO Mark Sewell issued a statement saying no staff members had been in contact with the clients for over two weeks so no staff were required to go into isolation.

Warrigal’s COVID-19 prevention and response team has been meeting multiple times a week with all of its home care clients receiving telephone welfare checks prior to visits in order to assess the risk to staff and other clients.

Like many operators, the community providers had also placed visitor restrictions on all of its homes in NSW and the ACT, and introduced increased resident and staff screening procedures.

Staff travelling and working across multiple sites and services has also been stopped to counter cross contamination risks.
