There are now 1,089 active coronavirus cases across 79 Victorian aged care homes, with the total number of cases linked to facilities at 1,301.

642 of those infected are residents, while 544 are staff and 115 are contacts of residents and staff.

77 deaths linked to aged care have also been recorded.

Victoria recorded 429 new COVID-19 cases on Monday for a state-wide total of 11,937 COVID-19 cases.

Eight have been linked to aged care homes – bringing the state’s death toll to 136.

In the past 24 hours, NSW has recorded 13 new COVID-19 cases, with a baby among them – there was also one new case in Queensland, two in South Australia, one in Western Australia and no new cases in the ACT, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

New Victorian cases have also been identified at Lilydale Lodge Aged Care Facility; Estia Health Aged Care Facility in Glen Waverley; BlueCross The Boulevard in Mill Park; two cases linked to James Barker House in Footscray; one case in a staff member at BlueCross Ivanhoe; one case in a staff member in BUPA Thomastown; one case in a staff member lined to Mercy Place Coben; and Mercy Place Mordialloc; and one case in a resident linked to Menarock Rosehill in Highett.

There was some positive news north of the border however, with Ashfield Baptist Homes in Sydney’s inner west confirming that all of its residents and staff have tested negative to coronavirus.

The home had closed its doors to visitors after a worker tested positive for COVID-19 on July 22.
