Resthaven buys Chiton Retirement Living from KeyInvest

1 min read

Not For Profit provider Resthaven has acquired South Australian village Chiton Retirement Living from KeyInvest for an undisclosed sum.

The village in Chiton, on the Fleurieu Peninsula, features 29 homes and is 3km from Resthaven’s existing residential aged care site at Port Elliot. According to Resthaven CEO Darren Birbeck (pictured right), the operator is committed to serving South Australian seniors.

“This acquisition complements Resthaven’s continued expansion into the Fleurieu region with new community services offices and services in Goolwa and Victor Harbor,” he said.

“Resthaven senior management will meet with the Chiton residents prior to taking ownership.”

KeyInvest CEO Steve Aspinall says that the only change for residents should be “the signage at the entrance to the village”.

“We are delighted to have been able to transfer ownership of our Chiton village to Resthaven because, as a long established South Australian-based provider of retirement village and aged care services, we know the residents will be in good hands,” he said.

“The sale of Chiton Retirement Living will not have a material effect on the village and the residents in the immediate term and will definitely be advantageous to them in the longer term.”

KeyInvest has offloaded a number of villages in the past few years; once the settlement closes on February 28, its only remaining village will be Wimmera Lodge in Horsham, Victoria.
