RVA wins Andrew Giles as CEO

1 min read

The RVA has achieved another major coup in attracting Andrew Giles to the role of CEO of the RVA. He is well-known as the very popular General Manager and State Director of MacroPlan, one of the most recognized economic and town planning advisory groups in Australia. His great depth of experience in working with local, state and federal governments, often as his clients at MacroPlan, attracted the RVA board. He has worked on many research and development programmes with both major developers and Not for Profits. At age 37 years Andrew is making a major personal commitment to the retirement village sector. He explained to us: “There has to be significant growth over the next 10 years if you look at how the retirement housing market needs services and like-minded communities; this is what is needed to be got in front of government because it is an incredibly important”.

Simon Owen, president of the RVA, identifies Andrew's depth of research, planning and government expertise, combined with extremely high energy, enthusiasm and fresh ideas as being the key components that appealed with Andrew over other high calibre contenders for the position.

On a personal level, Andrew reports he is a cricket and AFL ‘tragic’, as well as the drummer in a rather good country rock band. He joins the RVA over the next two weeks.
