The Not For Profit village and care operator has withdrawn from the planning process that had committed $250 million to redevelop sites in Joslin, Norwood and Glen Osmond for retirement villages and care.
They had faced a significant and coordinated opposition from local residents objecting to heights up to nine stories in residential areas. Life Care had taken advantage of new processes whereby they could bypass Council planning if developments are valued over $20 million.
Activists won substantial media coverage with their claims that Life Care had received special treatment.
CEO Allen Candy says they will revisit next year after further consultation with local residents.
