Sixth resident of BaptistCare’s Dorothy Henderson Lodge passes away from COVID-19

The 90-year-old male resident passed away yesterday, with BaptistCare CEO Ross Low saying he had expressed his grief at the loss with the resident’s family.

“It is nothing short of heartbreaking to have another resident lose their life to this virus,” he said.

“Our care staff and those who are part of Dorothy Henderson Lodge are doing their very best caring for our residents as they would their own family.”

“We know that the residents and their families are struggling with the isolation measures in place, and they are missing each other terribly, but these containment measures are now more important than ever,” he said.

At its nearby Willandra Village, the resident who had tested positive is still in hospital but is improving, while another resident who had contact with them and a second resident who has contact with a positive case outside of the village have both reached the end of their 14-day isolation periods with no symptoms.

All four village staff members have also tested negative and have concluded their 14-day self-isolation periods.
