Sixth resident with COVID-19 at Anglicare’s Newmarch House passes away – 53 cases now diagnosed

The 82-year-old-male resident passed away on Saturday morning, marking the sixth death at the home in a week.

Another three residents and two staff at Newmarch House have also tested positive, bringing the total number of cases to 53 – 34 residents and 19 staff.

After Friday’s announcement that three of BaptistCare’s senior staff are now “proving centre management and stakeholder support” at Newmarch, Anglicare says they have received further response to their requests for support from a number of different agencies in terms of staffing, specialist COVID-19 surge response and advice and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

“It is our hope that these increased supports will streamline care very quickly to a point where we can return to our usual excellent quality of service – even in this very different and complex setting,” they said in a statement.
