Art Rungtananan has faced court on manslaughter charges after a police investigation into the death of the elderly man he cared for.
Police launched an investigation into the 46-year-old Thai national after finding the body of Denis Habermann on the floor of his Marrickville unit in June 14, 2017.
The 76-year-old reportedly had dementia prior to his death.
A post mortem revealed he had died from pneumonia.
Rungtananan was charged with manslaughter and accused of gross neglect in his duty of care.
Rungtananan did not apply for bail and will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
