Are you worth $70,000 or $140,000 a year? Both of these salary packages
were negotiated with new village manager appointments over the past six
months by Mercury Executive Search in Melbourne.
What is the key to a bigger pot of gold at the end of the year? Why is one
manager worth twice the other? Undoubtedly its performance, especially in
sales. The $140,000 package was for a co-located facility in Victoria and based
on $90,000 plus super and a $40,000 bonus for ILU sales and bed occupancy
performance being met.
Over the past month Mercury also placed one village manager on $85K
including super and a 20% sales bonus. This does not suit everyone; another
manager opted for a more predictable $95K package with no bonus. They then
employed a sales manager to look after sales.
Many in the industry still feel the correct salary range is $50K to $70K,
however.
