Baw Baw Shire hands over aged care services to Benetas

1 min read

The Victorian-based Not For Profit will take over Baw Baw Shire’s and Latrobe City’s aged care operations from 1 July, as more Victorian councils bow out of services.

Benetas was selected by the Federal Government to take over aged care services for people aged over 65 through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), while Uniting Vic.Tas will provide home and community care for younger people.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Michael Leaney says Council is continuing to prioritise resident well-being through the transition process.

“We support the Federal and State Government’s appointment of Benetas and Uniting Gippsland as the new service provider and are confident in their ability to deliver high-quality care and service for Baw Baw Shire clients.

“Council will continue to work with all impacted clients, staff and community throughout the transition process to ensure all parties are supported,” he said.

Baw Baw and Latrobe are among numerous Victorian councils that are pulling out of aged care due to changes introduced by the Federal Government following the Royal Commission.
