Business as usual? Providers still taking on residents – and even increasing their occupancy

1 min read

Despite the ever-changing situation around the coronavirus, providers tell us they are still taking on new residents and clients – subject to some changes.

Whiddon CEO Chris Mamarelis (pictured above) says the current demands on the community, families and the health system are seeing the Not For Profit continue to accept new admissions and new clients, although pre-screening and post admission processes have been intensified.

“Whiddon’s occupancy rate has continued to remain stable through this initial period and in some cases, we are actually experiencing increased demand,” he said.

Bupa – which has 72 homes across the country – has also confirmed it is taking on new residents where they have availability, with extra health and safety precautions taken for infection control due to the risk of the virus.

Are you still taking on new residents and clients? Have you seen a slide in occupancy levels – or an increase?
