Demonstration of ‘mission’: Uniting Communities’ starts work on SA’s first ‘disability hotel’

1 min read

The short-term accommodation for people with disabilities at the Not For Profit’s flagship ‘U City’ development will house 18 fully serviced, short-stay apartments available for stays from one night to three weeks in the centre of Adelaide’s CBD.

Other key features include special-use beds; remote-controlled temperature lights and internal doors; personal lifting hoists; and accessible bathrooms and remotely operated lifts, entry and external doors.

The hotel will also offer a 24/7 concierge service and guidance system available from each room.

Impressive technology – and all being funded by a $7.44M grant from the State Government and Uniting’s own funds.
