Feb 27 heralds major changes for home care

1 min read

From this week, funding for home care will now be allocated directly to the consumer, not the provider.

The launch of the Increasing Choice in Home Care reforms also means:
- Funding for home care is now portable and can be taken interstate.
- Consumers can also take any unspent funds with them if they change providers.
- The process to become an approved provider has also become more streamlined.

MyAgedCare went offline for 65 hours ahead of the launch, which has involved significant changes including to payment systems, assessment processes and the management of people waiting to get a package.

The Department of Health is also advertising a range of resources on its website to help home care providers update their information in line with the changes. Find them here.
