The COVID-19 Aged Care Support Program – which will run over two years from 2019-20 to 2020-21 – is designed to assist residential aged care, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIF) and home care providers that are directly impacted by COVID-19.
According to the guidelines, eligible applicants can apply for funding for each affected service for the period between the first positive diagnosis to the end of the outbreak.
For residential care and the NATSIF, the grants will pay out a base funding allocation of $20,000 plus a funding allocation of $2,000 for each operational place, for example, a 50-bed facility which incurs $130,000 in eligible costs will receive $120,000 based on the $20,000 base funding and $100,000 for their operational places.
In home care, the funding will be a single payment of $650 per client. CHSP providers are not eligible.
However, providers will have to wait for the funds – the timeline for the assessment and awarding of the grants is five weeks from submission to payment, and six weeks for unsuccessful applicants (pictured above).
