Heathley’s proposal for 600-bed aged care facility in Brisbane knocked back for subdivision

The new wave of consumer advocacy: As we reported two weeks ago, the Sydney-based investment group has a 50% stake in the Pikos development of the heritage-listed Goldicott House at Toowong, 7km from the Brisbane CBD.

The State Government said it would support the application with conditions, but Brisbane City Council’s planning officers have rejected the plan to subdivide the land and strip the site of its community use zoning, saying it would erode the heritage setting of the house which was to be retained.

Provider Pikos does have the right of appeal however. Even with 122 submissions and a 2,361-signature petition against the development, we suspect they will do so.
