Infections still being reported at BaptistCare’s Dorothy Henderson Lodge three weeks on

1 min read

An indication of how much the virus can spread and persist.

There have been a further three positive cases at BaptistCare’s Dorothy Henderson Lodge in Macquarie Park, bringing to a total of 11 residents and five staff testing positive for COVID-19 – three weeks after the first staff member to be infected was reported.

Three residents who were infected with the virus have since passed away and BaptistCare has become one of the many providers to close its doors to visitors and non-essential visitors.

Last Friday, NSW Health undertook mass testing of 67 residents for COVID-19 with 45 returning negative results.

A further 18 test results are still to be completed.

In encouraging news, BaptistCare reports that one resident who had tested positive has recovered and is no longer in hospital – a sign that recovery for elderly people is possible.

All four staff members are also at home recovering in self-isolation.
