Is CPSM Care’s fifth aged home in Brisbane, which opens next month, a sign of the future?

CPSM Care’s new $44 million 141-bed aged care home at Camp Hill, 8km southeast of Brisbane’s CBD, has a feature inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are some design elements that have occurred due to the pandemic that wouldn’t have otherwise,” CPSM Care (Care Provider and Services Management) business manager, Shane Winterton, told News Corporation.

“We have gone completely away from hotel style air-conditioning and temperature control.

“All the rooms are now independently air-conditioned which added some cost to the project overall but protects from hotel-style cross contamination we saw during the pandemic in closed environments.

“It’s back to the good old Queenslander days, louvres in every hallway and lounge room, ceiling fans in all common areas, this building has been carefully redesigned to breath and every consideration for pandemic has been made.”

Built by Queensland Care Construction, CPSM Care Camp Hill will host an open day on 30 July before its scheduled opening on 15 August.

“We have never done an aged care development where every room has its own private balcony,” added Shane.

“This is a game changer, there’s no better or lesser accommodation in this building, everyone has access to get outside either in private or within shared community spaces.”

CPSM Care, founded in 2010, owns and operates aged care homes across Brisbane in Holland Park, Kippa Ring, Aspley and Coomera.
