Life Care puts forward plans to raise Adelaide aged care facility from three storeys to seven

1 min read

As we reported here, the Not For Profit is investing $250M in three vertical retirement village and aged care facilities with over 360 Independent Living Units (ILUs) and beds.

The redevelopments in Joslin, Norwood and Glen Osmond are the first to be lodged under the SA Government’s new planning laws, which allow developments valued at more than $20M to bypass local councils and go straight to the State’s Development Assessment Commission (DAC).

Opposition planning spokesman David Pisoni told Adelaide Now the changes lack “regard for the lifestyle and investment of people who have bought houses in these areas”.

However, a Government spokesperson said the assessments are the state’s “most rigorous form of planning assessment” with Life Care required to prepare development reports for each application which will be made available for public comment.
