Lutheran Services unveils plans for $30M Swiss-inspired eight-storey retirement village in inner Brisbane

The 52 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at Alondra Residences will be part of a larger aged care precinct in Nundah, 8km northeast of the CBD, which will feature an in-house concierge, on-demand health services and an aged care service.

The development marks an expansion and uplift of the Not For Profit’s portfolio which includes 11 retirement villages across Queensland.

Lutheran Services CEO Jacqueline Kelly says the new village is inspired by best-practice retirement living from Switzerland, France and Canada and is designed to foster social connection.

Designed by award-winning architects BVN, its tree-centred design features thousands of plants, a cascading water wall, reflection gardens and a green rooftop and entertainment facility overlooking the city.

“There’s a range of places for people to bump into each other, wide open corridors, a central public cafe and landscaped seating areas, encouraging friendships within and outside the building,” BVN Principal Mark Grimmer said.

All of the apartments also have multiple balconies or a private garden with one-bedroom apartments priced from $430,000.
