Opal proposes 160-bed aged care facility in Sydney’s north

1 min read

A design has been unveiled for Opal’s proposed new aged care facility in Carlingford, in Sydney’s northwest, where it will replace a popular nursery.

The $45 million development, slated for the site of Swane’s Nursery on Marsden Rd, proposes 160 beds across 148 units, including 142 high-care beds and 18 earmarked for residents with dementia. The proposal also includes amenities such as a swimming pool, a café, a gym, and a sauna, with the facility to be manned by 48 staff members and expecting two visitors per hour in peak periods.

The plans, which are still subject to approval, have met with less opposition from Parramatta Council than an earlier proposal for a medium-density development comprising 48 townhouses.
