QLD Govt funds $1.85M for retirement village financial advisers

1 min read

Seniors Minister Coralee O’Rourke has announced the Govt will provide $1.4M over the next four years for financial advisers at the five existing Seniors Legal and Support Services in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Hervey Bay and Toowoomba.

These services already receive $2.6M in Govt funding every year.

Mrs O’Rourke says that the funds will allow the services to source ‘expertise’ for seniors around issues including complex aged care agreements, family agreements and housing ie village contracts.

Another $700,000 will be spent over three years to expand similar services into more regional and remote areas as well as under-serviced metro areas including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Mackay.

The remaining $450,000 will go towards a range of other services including supporting the recent QLD Parliamentary Inquiry into the adequacy of financial protections for seniors.
