Two home care recipients in Victoria among confirmed new COVID-19 cases

1 min read

The aged care sector again has active cases – this time in the community.

The Department of Health has confirmed that two home care recipients in Victoria are among the 645 active cases across the state.

We have approached the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for more details about the cases, but had yet to receive a response by the time of publication.

The cases highlight the difficulties facing home care providers as they attempt to deliver services during the current community outbreaks – but also showcases what a good job that they are doing at protecting their clients.

Some providers we have spoken to have screened clients prior to sending in staff but this requires both time and money.

With restrictions easing, there are also no limits on recipients re-engaging with their community unlike residential care where visits are governed by a national industry code.
