US: Amazon now selling high-tech homes and apartments in ‘smart communities’

Pharmaceuticals is not the only market in sight for the former online bookstore.

Amazon has teamed up with builders and developers in the US to offer move-in ready smart homes equipped with smart home products activated and supported by its own in-house team.

These Smart Communities are now in 19 states and include products such as an Echo Show, Echo Dot, a wireless speaker, a smart garage door opener, smart shades, smart lighting, and a smart thermostat.

Buyers also receive a Ring Video Doorbell and a smart deadbolt that can issue virtual keys. You can even monitor the lock using an app.

Again, another challenge to the security offered by retirement living.
