CEO of Australias largest home care package provider, Jason Howie of KinCare, told an industry forum last week that he believed the sector was not ready for the transition to consumer directed care. He cited the fact that the industry was struggling with the complexity of transferring from a paternalistic approach to customers to a consumer focused approach.
Apart from culture, he pointed to the enormous investment in infrastructure and IT required; operators will need scale.
