$12M Western Sydney club with aged care plan put on hold

1 min read

Club Marconi in Narellan, 60km from the Sydney CBD, had planned to open the new Macarthur Community and Sporting Club later this year, but delays now mean the club won’t open until 2022.

The club is being built on land it purchased next to the Narellan Sports Hub in 2016, and will include aged care and child care facilities plus an outdoor cafe, family dining areas, bars, a gaming lounge and a children’s playground.

Club Marconi opened in 1958 and is one of the city’s most well-known sporting clubs, but chief operating officer Tony Zappia says the Narellan club will be more of “a family-friendly community facility to meet the needs of the growing area”.
