A 78-year-old male resident allegedly lashed out at fellow residents, injuring 13 people at the Yallambee Village for the Aged in the town of Traralgon, in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria’s Gippsland region.

Victoria Police were called to the Not For Profit, which operates the Margery Cole Residential Aged Care and Yallambee Independent Living Village, about 1:30am on Saturday after reports several residents had been assaulted by another resident.

The 78-year-old man was taken to hospital for assessment.

Two other residents – a 72-year-old woman and a 92-year-old woman – were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the attacks.

10 other residents and one staff member were treated by paramedics at the scene.

The police investigation is ongoing.
